Trip Itinerary

Volcanoes, waterfalls, colonial cities, Amazon adventures and Incan ruins.

Day 1 Tababela – Otavalo
Arrive at Mariscal Sucre International Airport and set off for the province of Imbabura where the adventure begins!
Day 2 Otavalo
Stroll through Otavalo’s indigenous market for some authentic souvenirs before heading to Lake Cuicocha, best-known for the two islets that have formed in this volcanic lake.
Day 3 Otavalo – El Angel Ecological Reserve
Stop at Yahuarcocha Lake before arriving in El Angel Ecological Reserve, home to some very interesting plant and wildlife.
Day 4 El Angel Ecological Reserve– Otavalo
Drive through Chota Valley with its afro-Ecuadorian culture and soak in the Chachimbiro hot springs.
Day 5 Otavalo – Quito
Walk along the shores of the Mojanda Lakes at the base of Mount Fuya Fuya then head toward Cochasquí Archeological Park to explore its ancient pyramids!
Day 6 Quito
Ascend to the base of Rucu Pichincha where you can swing above the capital before exploring the charm of old town Quito.
Day 7 Quito – Cuyabeno Wildlife Reserve
Set out for the jungle town of Lago Agrio. Just a 50 minute flight from Quito´s Mariscal International Airport! Then take a motorized canoe to your isolated jungle lodge.
Day 8 Cuyabeno Wildlife Reserve
Dive into primary rainforest to discover medicinal plants of the region and jungle wildlife before a water excursion in search of crocodiles and the elusive pink river dolphins
Day 9 Cuyabeno Wildlife Reserve
Visit the Tarapuy community and participate in their tried and true traditions. At nightfall, return to the forest in search of nocturnal creatures!
Day 10 Cuyabeno Wildlife Reserve – Lasso
After one last morning excursion in the Amazon, return to the Andes and spend the night beneath the majestic Cotopaxi volcano.
Day 11 Lasso – Riobamba
Hike through Cotopaxi National Park, home to one of the world’s highest active volcanoes! Later, head toward the city of Riobamba at the base of another impressive volcano: Chimborazo.
Day 12 Riobamba
Enjoy a horseback ride at your hacienda before heading out to explore the Chimborazo Wildlife Reserve, a beautiful occasion to see the diverse wildlife of the park. Keep your head up and you might spot a condor!
Day 13 Riobamba – Cuenca
Explore the Incan ruins of Ingapirca before diving into Ecuador´s most beautiful city. In Cuenca, watch the production of the famous Panama hat as we set the record straight for this Ecuadorian tradition.
Day 14 Cuenca – El Cajas National Park
Spend the day in El Cajas National Park for enchanting views of its more than 270 lakes!
Day 15 El Cajas National Park – Guayaquil
On the way to Ecuador’s largest city, stop in Manglares Churute Mangrove Reserve to discover its abundant flora and fauna and visit a cacao plantation.
Day 16 Guayaquil
Wrap up your Ecuadorian adventure with some local seafood on the Pacific Coast!
