Trip Itinerary

Mountains, volcanoes, lakes, colonial cities, indigenous communities and Incan ruins.

Day 1 Tababela – Cayambe
You will arrive at Quito’s Mariscal Sucre International Airport (in Tababela) and set out for your first hacienda in Cayambe, just north of the capital city.
Day 2 Cayambe – San Clemente
Dive into community life as you help the locals out with daily chores in San Clemente. Later on, check out a rose plantation where roses are sold worldwide! End the day with a stroll through one of South America’s largest indigenous markets in Otavalo – perfect for buying authentic souvenirs!
Day 3 San Clemente
Discover the ancestral traditions of San Clemente before a hike the heights of Ibarra on the trail of Cubilche for spectacular views and more indigenous history.
Day 4 San Clemente – Otavalo
Head toward Otavalo and visit a center for traditional artisans in the village of Cotacachi. Later, walk along the caldera of Lake Cuicocha and marvel at the two islets that have formed in this volcanic lake.
Day 5 Otavalo – Quito
Walk along the shores of the Mojanda lakes before making your way back to Quito. Stop at the Mitad del Mundo and don’t leave without a memorable photo of you in two hemispheres at once!
Day 6 Quito
Ascend to the base of Rucu Pichincha where you can swing above the capital before exploring the charm of old town Quito.
Day 7 Quito – Cotopaxi
Hike through Cotopaxi National Park, home to one of the world’s highest active volcanoes! Take in the peacefulness of the park from your hotel nestled right at the base of the volcano.
Day 8 Cotopaxi – Salinas de Guaranda
Discover the community of Salinas de Guaranda in the province named after the humbling Chimborazo volcano. The community has developed a series of microbusinesses and local projects that are sold throughout the country at fair and reasonable prices.
Day 9 Salinas de Guaranda – Riobamba
TaKeep heading south toward Riobamba and explore the Chimborazo Wildlife Reserve, a beautiful occasion to see the diverse wildlife of the region. Keep your head up and you might spot a condor! In the afternoon, visit a quinoa plantation and learn about the important role it plays in traditional Andean dishes.
Day 10 Riobamba – Baños
Start the day by admiring the Ozogoche Lakes in a nature sanctuary outside of Riobamba and end the day in the mountain jungle town of Baños at the base of the Tungurahua volcano!
Day 11 Baños – Quito
Take the “highway of waterfalls” and explore the impressive falls on the outskirts of Baños. Later head north again and take witness to the beautiful turquoise colors of Quilotoa!
Day 12 Quito – Tababela
Itinerary ContentYour adventure ends where it began in Quito, where you will have the chance to make some last minute stops or enjoy one more Ecuadorian dish before your return flight.
